The
LUMINIST MANIFESTO is a preliminary proposal for the formation of a
new church. It was written by
Dale R. Gowin in 1995 behind the walls of a
U.S. prison, where he was incarcerated for use and distribution of certain
“controlled” plants and chemicals which he used as spiritual sacraments. (For more information
on the author’s arrest and imprisonment, see his essay Confessions
of an Amerikan LSD Eater.)
The Manifesto was revised following the author’s parole in October 1996. It is in continuing revision. The author invites comments,
suggestions, and criticism as input for the revision process.
